Do you want to establish a local presence in Qatar by opening a trade representation office there? With the help of our team of experienced advisors at Qatar Helpline Group, you can register a representative office in Qatar that is 100% foreign owned and help you obtain Ministry permission.
What is a trade representative office?
The trade representation office acts as a "shop window" to advertise foreign goods without having any authority to bring goods into Qatar or sell them there. This enables the foreign business to market its domestically produced goods to prospective Qatari customers, brokers, or buyers by establishing a local presence. They are not in any manner now able to conduct local business in Qatar or permitted to advertise goods that were not produced by your business at the trade representative office. You must provide the parent company's manufacturing license for ministry clearance.
The establishment of the trade representation office in Qatar is not subject to any share capital requirements, and the company may be entirely foreign-owned in Qatar without the necessity for a local partner to possess 51% of the business.
How to start a trade representation office in Qatar
According to Decision No. 142/2006 of the Minister of Business and Trade, a foreign company may establish a representative office in Qatar without a local partner. These offices are not permitted to carry out any financial transactions associated with the business's tax-exempt operations in Qatar.
